Located at 1158 Texas Avenue, the Forum Building is a cornerstone of the Texas Avenue Historic District in Shreveport. Built in 1900, this two-story structure reflects the vibrant commercial history of The Avenue, a multicultural hub that thrived as a gateway between downtown and the city's residential neighborhoods.

As Texas Avenue grew, the building adapted to the city's changing needs:

Furniture & Supplies: From 1926 until the late 1950s, the building was primarily occupied by furniture companies and restaurant supply stores.

Vending and Music: Between 1961 and 1982, it was home to Sam’s Music Company, a prominent vending and novelty machine operator.

Revitalization: In 1984, the building became a pilot project for neighborhood revitalization. It housed several restaurants, including the Texas Avenue Deli and Cafe Orleans, while the upstairs served as offices for neighborhood development agencies.

This storied building has witnessed significant events in the 20th and the first quarter of the 21st century. For the better part of the last four decades, Jay Covington and Hugh Johnson have led a dedicated group of journalists in telling the stories of the people and places that make our part of the world one of the most interesting places to live.

Now it is time for this gem of Texas Avenue to contribute once again to another chapter in local commerce.

The two levels are well-suited for continued use as either a single- or dual-occupancy stand-alone office space.
