A Home Staging Guide, the Person and the Resource
Several months ago, a young lady came to our office and dropped off business cards and a very helpful Home Staging Guide. Holly Slott with HS Designs created this resource and I am finally getting around to sharing about it. For those who are selling their home, whether it is vacant or still occupied, she has a plan for you.
Determining Factors and Process
Maybe you have heard of home staging but have wondered the benefits. Holly outlines the Determining Factors and investment, highlighting that “85% of staged homes sold for 6-25% more” and “homes staged before listing spend 90% less time on the market.” She focuses on the Process it will take inside and out. “A clean, neutral, and streamlined look helps buyers to imagine what life would be like in your home.”
Checklists and Cheat Sheets
Holly formulated a great Checklist and Staging Cheat Sheet for any Seller preparing to list their home. Her first point, and my favorite, on the Staging Cheat Sheet is “disassociate – see your home as a ‘product.'” Sometimes I think this is the hardest part for Sellers. Understandably, they have so many memories in the home they are selling, it is hard for them not to get offended when negative feedback is left after a showing. However, leaving that Gothic skull back splash in your kitchen (yes, this was a real home that a Realtor friend of mine was asked to list) could keep your home from selling sooner than later.
